NYSAHA Scholarship Winner - Andrew Barreca by
posted 06/05/2013 Each year at the Annual Meeting of the New York State Amateur Hockey Association four scholarships are awarded to High School or Prep School Seniors going on to college. The Bob Allen scholarships are awarded based on the individuals participation at school, with their community, and involvement in youth sports. The Scholarships are for $1000 each and given directly to the winners upon verification of enrollment at college.
One former Empire player is one of the winners for 2013.
Andrew Barreca, a player from Perinton Youth Hockey, was announced as one of the 4 winners on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Annual Meeting in Buffalo. Andrew is a senior at Bishop Kearney High School, an Honor Roll Student and member of the National Honor Society, an Eagle Scout and played 4 years of Varsity Hockey and Lacrosse in addition to playing both House and Travel Hockey. He is also a 4 year hockey referee who will continue refereeing in Buffalo and Rochester while attending the University of Buffalo as a Chemical Engineering Major.
